Myanmar, formerly known as Burma (which the British call Burma), Myanmar is situated in South East Asia, which is the largest country in Indo-China Peninsula. Bordered with China, Thailand, Laos, Bangladesh and India. The country covers an area of 676,577 sq km in the shape of a diamond, stretches over 2090 km from north to south and over 925 km east to west. It has a 2832 km long coastline on the Indian Ocean. Over 50 percent of the total land area is covered with forests .

Myanmar is union of many races as many as 135 groups, all of them have their own languages and traditional cultures. The eight major representative groups are the Bamar, the Chin, the Kachin, the Kayah, the Kayin, the Mon, the Rakhine and the Shan. Each of them belongs to one of the three major racial groups: the Monkhmers, the Tibeton Bamars and the Thai Shans. There is also a significant of Chinese and Indians in the country. According to UN estimated in 2010, Myanmar has population about 55 million.
  • Climate

Climate of Myanmar is roughly divided into three seasons, The monsoon or rainy season is from May to October, the cool dry season from November to February, and the hot season from March to May. As the country is large and diverse with many mountainous regions and forests, temperatures vary from region to region. Weather is generally temperate and cool in the north and northeastern. During the rainy season, lower Myanmar and coastal areas enjoy heavy raining showers, but it is dry and pleasant in central regions. However whole Myanmar are good destinations for year round travel.
  • Language

Burmese is the official language in Myanmar, Being once a British colony English is also quite widely spoken although as in other Asian countries. It's easy to be deceived in the cities into believing that English is more widespread than it actually is.
